You may be wondering what else there is to do in a place featured in so many iconic movies and TV shows (yes, the Bachelorette Claysha season was indeed filmed at our resort, La Quinta). This will be our first time hosting DealMaker in this desert oasis, so we made a list of a few hot and Instagram-able locations that you don’t want to miss.
La Quinta Resort and Club – Yes… That La Quinta 🌹
First, La Quinta Resort is a phenomenal resort oasis. The LaQuinta Resort and Club is about a $40 Uber/Lyft ride* from Palm Springs Airport and will take about 40 minutes from door to door. If you are thinking about flying into LAX, SAN or SNA and not renting a car, those rides will be closer to $175-$200 each way*.
Pro Tip: Consider flying in with your fellow Dealmakers and carpool to the resort – look at it as a mini road trip to catch up before the real fun starts!
Let’s Do Some Hiking!
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you definitely want to get in the weekend before DealMaker. Kickstart your weekend by hitting the trails and exploring the scenic beauty. Some of our team is set to embark on a desert hiking adventure, and guess what? My Stanley Cup is coming along to keep me hydrated and pumped up. So, gear up and make this pre-DealMaker weekend an epic one!
Joshua Tree National Park: The main park entrance is about an hour north of the hotel. $30 per car to get into the park.
Palm Springs Aerial Tramway: Ascend two-and-a-half miles to a pristine wilderness aboard the world’s largest rotating tramcar. As a bonus you can get lunch or dinner at the top! Bonus points if you hike AND get a killer Instagram.
North Lykken Trail: 4.3-mile out-and-back trail near Palm Springs, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route if you’re a pro.
Now That You’re Hungry…
After all that hiking, it will be time for dinner and a drink.
We’ve spotted some amazing options for you to check out! La Quinta Cliffhouse has a great happy hour special and a cool-looking patio/waterfall combination. If you’re in the mood for sushi (and tennis?) after all that desert dryness, you can head to Nobu Indian Wells and watch some riveting tennis matches while you sip on some Sake and enjoy some sushi. Both spots are about 3 miles away!
Notable restaurants in downtown LaQuinta – about 2 miles from the resort include:
Lavender Bistro – Modern Californian dishes featuring pasta, meat & fish served indoors or on an elegant garden patio.
Arnold Palmer’s Restaurant – Yes, that Arnold Palmer. Classic steakhouse fare is served amid a memorabilia-covered dining room & practice putting green. You should really be into golf to get the most out of this restaurant’s décor.
Enzo’s Bistro and Bar – offers house-made pasta in cozy, traditional surroundings with a heated patio & a grass bocce court. Earlier this year, Open Table voted it “Best Outdoor Dining in La Quinta.”
Just outside LaQuinta (but not all the way to Palm Springs), about 15 minutes away, is this pink beauty:
The Pink Cabana – Pink Cabana at Sands Hotel & Spa is a fresh, modern take on the great Tennis and Racquet Clubs of the ’50s and ’60s in Palm Springs.
Other notable restaurants downtown Palm Springs – about 20 miles from the resort include:
Workshop Kitchen + Bar – A sleek, stone-cut staple for Palm Springs visitors, offering diners an upscale evening experience that relies heavily on local farms and cement-chic environs.
The Tropicale Palm Springs – This splashy pink restaurant with an Old Havana supper club ambiance has a perennially busy patio, especially during its fabled happy hour when discounted food and bargain drinks are offered.
Mr. Lyons – The swanky steakhouse has a glam dining room that harkens back to the Rat Pack days of yore. Order up ice-cold martinis, craft cocktails, and meaty fare, including classics like a New York strip.
Fancy a Walk?
Whether it be a walk around the grounds of La Quinta, the desert, or a golf course, we’ve got you covered!
The La Quinta Resort & Club has 5 gorgeous courses featured in GOLF’s Top 100 Best Courses in North America. You can book some tee time on one of their championship courses or take a class at the PGA West Golf Academy for some on-course instruction if you’re a golf novice.
If you want to explore more of Palm Springs, you can visit the PGA West Stadium Course. This course was originally private and used for the Bob Hope Desert Classic but has since been made public (which is excellent news for you!).
One of the main attractions of Palm Springs is its architecture. The area is known for its incredible Mid-Century Modern homes dotted along the mountains and palm trees. Take a guided tour, or rent a bike or car and take a self-guided tour. Either way, you’ll be sure to enjoy seeing some incredible feats of desert architecture.
